New Life

We spent two days in Winfield, Alabama with Ryan and Melissa Scone.  They actually interned with Wewillgo Ministries in downtown Jackson for about 1 1/2 years.  Ryan and Melissa are preparing for overseas missions in Peru.  They are praying about interning with us in the fall.  Please pray for them as they seek the Lord in the steps they need to take.

We had the awesome opporunity of sharing with their church, New Life Fellowship.  The Lord is doing a beautiful work there.  The majority of believers in the church are new Christians.  Pastor Jeff's Church ministers to the community by operating two recovery homes.  They have one for women and one for men.  We got to meet and hear some of their testimonies which would break your heart.  He said in the past, people would come to the Church and need a place to stay while they recovered.  For a while they sent the people to other facilities.  Then they realized as a Church, it was their responsibility to minister to those the Lord sent to them.  Thus, by faith, they opened the homes.  We were encouraged by their obedience to be the Church and make a difference. 

Please pray for both Ryan and Melissa and New Life Fellowship.

Serving in Peru

Welcome to God Opens Doors to the Nations.  Our family is serving in Peru, South America.  We would love to hear from you and our prayer is you would pray about becoming involved with us.   You can read ways to be involved in the side-bar on the left.  As you read about our daily journey, our prayer is that you are on mission right where you are.  To quote the heart of Wewillgo Ministries, "You can be on mission in your own backyard."  

Furlough Journal

Last weekend began our traveling for furlough.  This is a recap of our first week.

• We spent Friday and Saturday with our friends Richard and Mendy King.  Mendy is on staff with the Gulf Coast Baptist Association.  Saturday we all traveled to Lucedale to see Pastor Tommy Mitchell and his wife Andrea.  They are sweet friends of ours we have known for a long time.  Brother Tommy had a five-way bypass operation and we were glad to see he was doing well. 
• Sunday we traveled to Waveland, Mississippi.  Randy's cousin, Brian Bridges and his wife Karen planted Westbay Community Church a little over a year ago.  We were able to share with their Church and fellowship with them afterwards.  You can keep them in your prayers as they keep plowing this year.
• Monday, I was able to share with the Rock Hill Baptist Church WMU Group. 
• Thursday, it was off to Brookhaven.  My mom's WMU group at New Prospect Baptist Church asked me to speak. 
• This weekend we are home!  We hung out at WeWillGo in downtown Jackson this morning - the girls sent out newsletters and the guys worked on the properties.  Ryan and Melissa Scone are in town from Alabama.  They were interns with WeWillGo and have a call to Peru.  We will be traveling to see them in Winfield, Alabama this week.

Living in the Wind

Christmas has come and gone and New Years too. We had a great visit with my family over Christmas. We spent New Years with Randy's twin, Rusty and his wife, Janet and daughter Amanda. We are now in Colorado visiting my brother David, his wife, Donnielle, and kids, Jocelyn, David, and Chico. They live in Parachute, Colorado. The last time I went to Colorado to visit was 12 years ago. I think this visit is way overdue!

After this week, we will begin speaking. Living in the wind is not easy, but it makes one more flexible. Every church is different and it is amazing to see how the Lord is working in each one differently. I am hoping to blog our furlough time and chronicle our adventures. We get the awesome opportunity to see old friends, meet many new people and we are looking forwarding to sharing, preaching, and praying for people. We would appreciate your prayers as we travel.
